“Founder of ZURICH GLASS SCHOOL Dr. Julie Anne Denton is originally from the Isle of Man. This heritage rich island is known as the jewel of the Celtic Kingdom. Her upbringing in the hotel trade on an island steeped in such rich historical heritage is where her unique aesthetic is derived from. Her key themes are people, folklore, nature and counterculture. She has received worldwide recognition for her storytelling skills as an artist and her technical skills as a glass maker.
Julie often works as a designer but also sells her individual pieces in venues such as the Saatchi gallery and Tate Britain. After her academic studies in glass & philosophy she completed her one-year apprenticeship with maestro Emilio Santini from the famous Italian island of Murano. She extended her travels to learn the secret art of glass from four other famous glass artists, and finally rounded off her education with Bertil Vallien of the renowned Swedish design house Kosta Boda (est. 1742).
Julie settled in Zürich in 2010 and opened both her design firm Atelier #315 & later Zurich Glass School her remote learning platform. She works with a small team beside her who all care deeply about learning and creating quality pieces which resonate beauty, workmanship, and authenticity."
