Once students understand how to construct creatures and observe natural forms, the next challenge is learning how to interpret them.
 
Serbay Doru 3 builds directly upon the construction skills developed in Serbay 1 and the observational principles explored in Serbay 2, shifting the focus toward planning, anatomy, interpretation and technical control.
 
Students begin tackling larger, more ambitious projects that require careful organisation, anatomical understanding, advanced assembly techniques and a deeper appreciation of how natural systems function.
 
Throughout the course, Serbay demonstrates how complex sculptures can be broken down into manageable stages, revealing the planning and decision-making processes behind successful large-scale builds.
 
This course places particular emphasis on:

• Working from scientific reference
• Murrini integration
• Silver foil applications
• Hollow sculptural forms
• Sculptural blowing techniques
• Surface complexity and naturalistic detail

Projects include a murrini beetle, silver foil cuttlefish, realistic seashell, peacock mantis shrimp, crab and monarch butterfly.
 
By the end of the course students will have a greater understanding of how complex natural forms are organised and how advanced sculptural projects can be planned, constructed and resolved with confidence.

This course is designed for students who already possess a solid understanding of sculptural construction and observation, and who wish to develop greater independence, technical control and artistic judgement.

It is the interpretation stage of the Beasties journey, bringing together the construction skills of Serbay 1 and the observational principles of Serbay 2 into a more mature sculptural practice.
 
Included with the course is a library of supporting material, including Zurich Glass School's hand-drawn visual technical maps, student guides, demonstration notes, reference diagrams, and supplementary learning resources. These materials have been specifically developed to help students revisit techniques and reinforce learning away from the torch.
 
This E-course can be completed entirely at your own pace. Expect planning, experimentation, problem solving, refinement and moments of discovery as part of the learning process.
