Detailed Course Description

SMGS Spring 2024 Edition Unlike the usual Julie classes which are high-octane and intense. This 2.5 month class is jam packed with fun AND difficult demos by ZGS founder Dr Julie Anne Denton (IoM), Wesley Fleming (USA) and Serbay Doru (TR), Ivan Bestari (ID), Derya Geylani (TR), Ihsan Erenci (TR) and our house favourite Shane Fero (USA). Our demos are focused on botanical goblets, blown figures, splashes, fish, light catchers and bugs and fauns. In this class we aim to hone your skills in a fun and easy manner by teaching you myriad techniques which you can apply to your own personal projects later down the line. Mostly we will be looking at off-mandrel and blowing techniques in soft, recycled and hard glass. Within the price you will be invited to a private group to view our recorded sessions and discuss your wins and failures during the class. At the end of class in June you will be invited to our SMGS channel. The SMGS channel is valid for six months until December 2024 and you will have easy access to all the demos to watch over and over. You will also receive four one on one consultations with Dr Julie or our consultant Gail Oldroyd to help you overcome any tricky parts you are personally experiencing in the projects. Skill Level: Your own flameworking torch, or access to a flameworking studio is a necessity. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.
