Detailed Course Description

SMGS Spring Edition Unlike the usual Julie classes which are high-octane and intense. This 2.5 month class is jam packed with fun and difficult demos by ZGS founder Dr Julie Anne Denton (IoM), Wesley Fleming (USA) and Serbay Doru (TR), Ivan Bestari (ID) and Derya Geylani (TR). At least half of our demos are focused on bugs and creatures in soft and hard glass. In this class we aim to hone your skills in a fun and easy manner by teaching you myriad techniques which you can apply to your own personal projects later down the line. Mostly we will be looking at off-mandrel techniques but we will also cover some form based bead techniques. Within the price you will be invited to a private group to discuss your wins and failures during the class. You will have access to the recorded videos until 30.06.2022 to watch again. You will also receive five one on one consultations with the master to help you personally with the tricky parts you are experiencing in the projects. What our students say about Zurich Glass School "I had 2 years glass experience & found myself in a glass rut. I wasn't growing technically or creatively which was frustrating. As the Covid pandemic shrunk my physical world & closed my beloved local glass school, it also threw me into the expansive virtual universe of incredible learning opportunities. I am so grateful I found Zurich Glass school & enrolled in the inaugural class. The virtual forum used by Zurich Glass school is amazing, live teaching videos with class discussion, recorded to view over & over, one on one consults with the instructor & private Facebook groups to share success & failures with fellow classmates in the comfort of my own studio on my loyal torch! This is learning perfection! I have taken the majority of classes offered & have an abundance of skills to practice. My rut is a faint memory & my creative juices are flowing as I dream in glass. Dr. Julie is a wonderfully charismatic, idiosyncratic, extraordinary gem of a mentor; who has held my hand & cheered me on to make sculptures I never could of imagined attempting. She tailors her teaching to glass veteran or newbie alike, guiding everyone to success. I have also made great glassy friends with my classmates that I communicate with daily, helping each other to the highest levels of achievement."
