Detailed Course Description

Up and coming flameworker Serbay Doru teaches his soft glass vision with Zurich Glass School. Serbay from Turkey is a visionary who creates works which grab the Zeitgeist and spirit of the creatures he imitates. Doru is one to watch in the future who will soon surpass the Italian and American Masters who imitate creatures, animals and marine life. There are a huge set of collectors associated with this type of work in glass. Six LIVE learning sessions of 1-1.5 hrs in our interactive Zoom room. In this course Serbay Doru explores how to make a stunning foiled Morpho butterfly, blown corals and sophisticated anemone, big leaves and flowers for use in montage work, the long-horned beetle and a detailed silver fish. This intermediate course will give you the confidence and toolset to work on difficult sculptural pieces over multiple firings in soft glass. This course will push you in soft glass, but also feel free to work in borosilicate if you prefer, the techniques are transferable and interchangeable. There will be an accountability group where we all meet to show our successes and failures – This is also the place where you can use the ‘watch back’ facility and re-watch any and all of Serbay Doru's all-important and informative demos. Once class is over, you have exclusive access to these demonstrations for SIX months to really get those techniques embedded in your minds and hands. Class includes three complimentary one on one consultations worth 60CHF with Dr Julie Anne Denton to help you with the tricksy bits, whilst receiving personal help and encouragement with the projects. Further, visual technical handouts will be provided which act as a handy reminder for all the demonstrations at a glance.
